History and Development

Starting in 2005, Shin Shin officially started to expand the English Teacher Training program. In Hunan Province, with the strong support from local overseas offices and board of education, The training classes were held in Changde, Hunan. The program lasted a period of eight weeks in the summer from May to July each year in Hunan Normal University.

In 2005, there were 34 participants from Hunan, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Henan, Inner Mongolia, five provinces. In 2006, the number of participants increased by 65%, to 54 people. In 2007, the number increased to 75 teachers from Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Henan, Hebei, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Jilin, etc. 14 provinces. In Liaoning, they adopted the mode of Changde teachers' training, and held the summer training in Tieling Teachers College in 2007. From 2005 to 2007, we trained a total of 170 English teachers from Shin Shin primary schools in 15 different provinces from China, so that more than 40,000 students have benefited from them.

Beginning in 2010, Shin Shin added computer teacher training programs, combined with the original training, referred to as English and Computer Teacher Training (ECTT). ECTT's first session started from July to August, a total of six weeks in Hunan Science and Vocational and Technical Institute in Changsha, Hunan. Its goal was to improve computer skills of primary school teachers in remote rural areas, as well as enhancing English teaching methods. In 2010, ECTT trained a total of 154 teachers from 178 Shin Shin schools, in which 81 people in English training and 104 participated in computer training. In 2011, Shin Shin held ECTT both in Hunan and Gansu, with the help of well-known local institutes to set up two computer and English teacher training centers, helping nearly 800 teachers be trained within 7 years. According to Shin Shin teachers' feedback, ECTT programs were very effective and fruitful. The teachers learned how to make PPT, use office software, and search information on Internet and many other skills; they also learned how to properly guide children to learn English, and correctly pronounce English words and so on.
